Miss Nevada Teen USA 2004

Salas won the Miss Nevada Teen USA 2004 title in a state pageant held on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on December 13, 2003.[1] This was her first attempt at the title. In August 2004 she represented Nevada in the Miss Teen USA 2004 pageant broadcast live from Palm Springs, California where she placed second runner-up to Shelley Hennig of Louisiana.[2] This was Nevada's highest placement since Victoria Franklin placed second runner-up to Vanessa Minnillo of South Carolina in 1998. Franklin, Salas' sister titleholder, held the Miss Nevada USA 2004 title.

Miss Nevada USA 2007

After placing first runner-up in the Miss Nevada USA 2007 pageant in October, Salas was crowned Miss Nevada USA on December 21, 2006 after the previous titleholder Katie Rees was dethroned the previous day amid allegations of indecent and immoral behavior in a Florida nightclub, with several photographs of Rees exposing her breasts, kissing other women, and simulating sexual acts released to the media.[3] This followed a scandal involving then-current Miss USA Tara Conner. Salas' "sister" titleholder, Miss Nevada Teen USA 2007, is Danielle Hashimoto.

Miss USA 2007

As the official representative of her state to the 2007 Miss USA pageant, broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California on March 23, 2007, Salas placed third in the swimsuit competition and at least fifth in evening gown (she walked too fast and didn't step on her marks, leading to no score being shown on TV), which allowed her to advance as one of the Top 5 finalists of the competition, finishing her participation in Miss USA 2007 as fourth runner-up to eventual winner, Rachel Smith of Tennessee.[4]
